Plan your next weekend in a quiet place, visit a fascinating historic center and its particular beauties, plan your weekend in Rovigo.
The city of Rovigo is the capital of Polesine, it was a meeting point of the Venetian and Ferrarese civilization, still evident today in the porticoed buildings that delimit its natural center in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. Mysterious and welcoming, it hosts many outdoor cafes where you can relax, fashionable shops and is the scene of summer concerts and animation shows.
The pearl of the city is La Rotonda, a religious building located in the historic center of Rovigo, known for its octagonal shape and for the historical-religious events related to the evolution of the city. Simple and harmonious, the sacred temple was built between 1594 and 1613 by the Bassano engineer Francesco Zamberlan, friend and collaborator of the great architect Andrea Palladio, with the aim of venerating an image of the Madonna to which various miracles were attributed, including the release of Rovigo from the plague.
