Valley of the Sphinxes Excursion

The Valley of the Sphinxes Excursion is an interesting outing that takes place in one of the most interesting and wild parks in the Veneto region. In fact, we are in the surprising Lessinia Regional Natural Park, established in 1990, extending north of the province of Verona, between the group of the Small Dolomites - Pasubio and Trentino Alto Adige.

To make this protected area an ideal destination for visitors looking for a genuine contact with nature and with the ancient traditions of the mountain people, are the gentle grassy peaks, with its animals free to graze, the fearsome scattered rock formations on the territory, the numerous valleys and canyons that furrow the ground, without underestimating the typical products, which only such a wild territory can offer.

The Valley of the Sphinxes Excursion starts from the town of Camposilvano, where it is possible to park the car in some designated areas. Not far away we find the Geopaleontological Museum, where numerous fossil and archaeological finds found over the years in the Lessinia Park are kept inside.

From here, go up the village for a few hundred meters along the paved road towards Parparo. At the fork, we turn right onto a dirt road, dominated by the famous mushroom-shaped rock, which welcomes visitors at the entrance to the curious Valley of the Sphinxes.

A particularly curious and intriguing place, which leaves every hiker amazed, offering suggestive images and fascinating views. These rocky monoliths originate from the force of erosion that over thousands of years the atmospheric agents have exerted on the limestone shapes. These natural beauties are all linked together by an ancient and fascinating story, which feeds the magic of these lands, with exciting fairy tales and legends.

After having photographed them and contemplating the area, we descend through the valley, in the opposite direction from where we arrived, finding the path that quickly takes us back to the village of Camposilvano. The excursion is suitable for anyone, even if it is not very popular, it is a fairly quiet and well-maintained route. We recommend a calm pace, to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
