Roana

Roana is certainly the most scattered municipality in the entire seven municipalities plateau, as it is made up of five hamlets: Camporovere, Canove, Mezzaselva, Cesuna and Treschè Conca. This suggestive location is located along the road that leads from the tourist center of Asiago to the small reality of Rotzo, famous for its excellent potatoes.

Among the various points of interest we find the Lonaba lake, half of which is summer and winter, ideal for spending a day of relaxation and fun, suitable for both adults and children, surrounded by unspoiled nature.

Roana is remembered above all for the Forte Verena, built on the homonymous Verena Mount from where, on May 24 at 04:00 am, the first cannon shot from Italian territory started, thus marking the entry into the war of Italy. For the entire period of the conflict, the municipal area of Roana was practically cut in two by the front line, which followed the course of the Assa torrent, between the localities of Mezzaselsa, Roana and Camporovere.

Very hard years, such as the direct consequence of the Austro-Hungarian offensive called by the Italians Strafexpedition, which translates from the German "punitive expedition", a bloody battle unleashed by the imperials against the Italian army between 15 May and 27 June 1916.

To visit we find the Interrupted Fort, built in the '800 on the homonymous mountain, looks like a building of medieval conception in fact, observing it well, it looks more like a castle than a military fort and almost certainly was not designed to resist the gigantic shots of the First World War.

Events not to be missed are, the village festival of Roana: festival of Santa Giustina, which is usually held on the first Sunday of October, the village festival of Canove is the famous Festival of San Marco and dei Cuchi, which takes place in usually from April 24 to May 02. The cuchi are typical terracotta whistles, of every color and shape, which have always represented love, as the sewing was given as a gift to your loved one as a token of love.
