In fact, the large Veronese valleys were covered with swamps, which were formed by the excessive abundance of waters that did not find flow into the plain, due to the low slope of the land. In particular, these areas were strongly marked by climatic and hydrographic disruptions throughout the Middle Ages, which gradually flooded the whole province.

Once again, the conquests of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, during the late Middle Ages, which deliberately flooded the valleys on several occasions, so as to be able to transfer the fleets from the Adige to the Po, and vice versa.

Only later, from the second half of the nineteenth century, the final reclamation of the valleys took place, especially for the maintenance of the waterways, today only the narrow belt close to the course of the old Tartar has remained marshy, with the presence of a fauna and a typical flora of the wetlands.

In short, a unique and constantly developing territory, which tries to pick up its history, its traditions and its culture by the hand in order to make this environment and its peculiarities known. In fact, as technological progress progresses, these lands build great Venetian traditions and small daily customs that have strengthened the country, making it one of the most beautiful in the world.
