The city of Vittorio Veneto was born from the fusion of the towns of Ceneda and Serravalle, to celebrate the unity of Italy, dedicating the event to the king Vittorio Emanuele II.

Vittorio Veneto

This charming city, rich in monuments and works of art, is located between the Pre-Alps and the green hills of the Treviso area. Visiting the historic center of Serravalle you can admire one of the most important centers of the Serenissima on the mainland, characterized by ancient streets, squares, typically Venetian buildings and by the Meschietti, works of hydraulic engineering of the sixteenth century.

The city also preserves several buildings of considerable historical and artistic importance, such as the church of Santa Giustina, the church of Sant'Andrea, the Renaissance Palazzo Minucci-De Carlo and the Castrum of Serravalle, an ancient fortified settlement in Roman times. The city of Ceneda, on the other hand, has probable Celtic origins.

In this town, in particular, you can admire the Castle of San Martino, the former residence of the Counts-Bishops of Ceneda, (where the bishop of the diocese of Vittorio Veneto still lives), the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which preserves important works and the 16th-century Loggia del Cenedese, whose rooms now house the Battle Museum dedicated to the First World War.

Not to be missed in mid-August the "Secular Fair of Santa Augusta", the village festival that transforms the district of Serravalle into a lively setting of events that honor the patron saint of the ancient medieval village, including music, entertainment, theater and a magnificent fireworks display.

The city of Vittorio Veneto is made up of two historically distinct entities, this makes it unique and fascinating, like the territory that surrounds it, full of small characteristic villages nestled between the hills and mountains.

There are almost fifty small villages, including Borgo Gallina enclosed by high walls of stones, Borgo Carpesica, located in a panoramic position, Borgo Cozzuolo which has its own curious bell tower, Borgo al Ponte located along the river Meschio, Borgo Olivi located at 1763 meters and overlooking the Val Lapisina, Borgo di Costa is an old village located along the road that goes to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute and Borgo Olarigo, where there is still an old tavern with typical cuisine.
