The city of Valdobbiadene is the gateway to the hills of Prosecco Superiore and is also one of the best-known locations in the whole province thanks to its characteristic products.
Valdobbiadene
Declared a World Heritage Site in 2019, these beautiful colored hills are located in the heart of the Marca Trevigiana, not far from the imposing Dolomites and a few kilometers from the beaches of the Venetian coast.
Crossing them you discover a completely new environmental scenario, particularly suggestive and with strong distinctive features, made up of steep slopes alternating with gentle slopes, in which the infinite network of vineyards is mastered undisturbed.
A territory where everything smells of wine and good products, mixed in a centuries-old landscape designed by man, in one of the most enchanting areas in Italy. The city itself does not have much to offer, preserves in the main square buildings in neoclassical style, despite being largely damaged during the first war.
Valdobbiadene is an important center for the production of Prosecco and Cartizze which finds, in the perfect combination of a mild microclimate and a soil that allows a fast drainage of the rains, a perfect and balanced environment for the vine development.
These magical acres, intended for the production of the famous Cartizze, are set among the steep hills of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol, small and charming villages linked to a unique territory. From here the white wine route leads to Conegliano, where it is possible to savor the production and, very often, take advantage of direct sales to the public.
The Prosecco DOCG Superiore di Cartizze is a special selection of small vineyards that are located in a hilly area of about 108 hectares, where the prestigious sparkling wine is exclusively produced. In particular in the hamlets of Santo Stefano, Soccol and San Pietro di barbozza, in a natural oasis completely covered with vineyards, which have about 140 landowners.
The cultivation is entirely suited to the variety of Glera grapes, the basis for Prosecco, which in this area has found a microclimate and a soil particularly conducive to the growth of healthy vines, which give the wine unique characteristics and particular value.
