In this chapter we discuss one of the largest villas in Europe, where many events and cultural exhibitions take place: Villa Contarini.
Villa Contarini or Camerini is one of the largest Venetian villas designed by Andrea Palladio and dates back to the years of its formation and preparation between 1540 and 1550 and, for a series of coincidences it would seem that it was called by the Contarini family to create it. The villa has a Baroque appearance and is situated at the back of the main square of Piazzola sul Brenta in the province of Padua.
The central body of the palace designed by Palladio seems to have risen near or in place of the ancient castle inherited from the Da Carrara family and then destroyed during the floods. All this is demonstrated by the plinth, which has a different thickness and structure of the constructed building.
Preceded by a vast rectangular courtyard, Villa Contarini has two colonnades on the sides of the main body that are considered the first example of the Palladian production of a villa-farm.
The villa preserves in the central body the original Auditorium and the Music Room, also called "of the inverted guitar" which, is considered a real sound theater with unique acoustic characteristics in the world.
The music performed by the orchestrals placed on the balcony, was thus able to expand thanks to the wooden ceiling, built as the soundboard of a gigantic guitar. The immense building is completed by a vast park of forty hectares at the back, with beautiful centuries-old plants and a small pond that hosts numerous animal species.
