The Città di Carpi rifugio excursion is a spectacular tour that takes place on the Cadini di Misurina, a beautiful mountain group of the Sesto Dolomites, in the presence of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
The Cadini di Misurina are characterized by the sharp peaks and spectacular forks, which frame these large gullies, thus offering a unique and fabulous Dolomite panorama of the Dolomites, a World Heritage Site. The term Cadini derives from the Cadore term "ciadìn", which can be translated into valleys, given the large number of valleys present within the mountain range.
The Città di Carpi rifugio excursion leads to the Forcella Maraia, at 2,110 meters above sea level, in a splendid panoramic position, from where you can enjoy an exceptional view of the mountain ranges of Marmarole, Sorapiss, Croda dei Toni, Tofane and Cristallo. It is also an excellent starting point for Trekking and Mountain Bike routes, suitable for expert and non-expert hikers.
Very interesting is the Cadini Tour, a continuous up and down on excellent trails, which form a unique and spectacular ring, but with the presence of exposed sections and aided by wire rope. The Città di Carpi rifugio is also a support base for the Alta Via delle Dolomiti number 4, an 85 km route consisting of six stages, which connects San Candido to Pieve di Cadore, the birthplace of Tiziano Vecellio.
The Città di Carpi rifugio excursion starts on the shores of the famous lake of Misurina, where you can park and take the two-seater chairlift that takes you to the Col de Varda refuge at 2,106 meters. In about 10 minutes you arrive at the splendid panoramic terrace of the refuge, behind the grandiose Cadini di Misurina.
Continue in a short and very rapid descent, along the esplanade of the winter ski slope, for a few minutes, at the crossroads, turn left, where the dirt road that leads to our destination begins. Through the low mountain pine clearings you reach Bus de Pogofa at 1,930 meters, the lowest point of our entire excursion. Continue uphill through the woods, with a slow but steady pace, up to the beautiful clearing that leads directly to the Città di Carpi refuge at 2,110 meters.
The magnificence of the Cadini behind the refuge will leave you speechless, the variety of towers, pinnacles and spiers are the perfect setting to end this suggestive walk. The excursion is suitable for anyone, despite this, the mountains must always be respected and attended with seriousness, there are many guides available to accompany you in case you do not feel completely safe.
The route is quite popular with strollers and families too. Pay attention to the ice that forms during the coldest periods. We recommend a calm pace, to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
