The Ancient Mills Way or Water Way is a relaxing historical-naturalistic itinerary that winds through the woods of the San Daniele valley. This suggestive path that runs along the lively Rujo stream, still preserves ancient mills and very interesting hydraulic works, testimony of an important past.

Although the path is quite shady and immersed in the green of these beautiful hills, and therefore the strength of the sun is slightly calmed, try to avoid the sultry summer days, because we are not in the high mountains. The ancient mills way starts from Roma square in Cison di Valmarino, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, thanks to its infinite historical, artistic and naturalistic beauties.

It is located in Valmareno, also called Valsana, along the course of the Soligo, between the city of Vittorio Veneto and that of Follina, another small and charming village not to be missed. Its territory is also part of the DOCG of the Prosecco Superiore cellars, which in 2019 were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, thanks to a unique landscape, where the work of winemakers has helped transform this exceptional territory.

The greenery that surrounds it is a true paradise for the senses, where you can find castles and Venetian villas, all embellished by ancient craftsmanship, which give life to numerous markets throughout the territory. The ancient mills way continues north, across the large Sassi Bridge, where we can find the first signs indicating the way to follow and descriptive tables.

The signs will accompany you along the entire circular path, despite this the walk has some branches, also allowing you to arrive at the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, a memorial to the Alpine troops that "remembers with a stone and a stele all the fallen Alpine born in the province of Treviso ". A particularly magical path, which embodies the value of history, the hand of man and the beauty of nature, reconstructing what was, until a few years ago, the artisan life of these districts, linked to the incessant melody of the stream Rujo.

Along the Water Way we can still admire old wash houses, ancient mills, fountains and canals. The walk is suitable for anyone, the route is quite popular with people walking and also by families with children. We recommend a calm pace, to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
