The Strada del Vecchio Trenino, a truly unique cycle and pedestrian itinerary, starts from Asiago and reaches Treschè Conca di Roana (locality of Campiello), retracing the ancient route of the train that, until 1955, carried the people of the Seven Municipalities Plateau towards the plain.

It was a remarkable engineering work, studied with foresight as early as the mid-nineteenth century, to connect the Venetian plain to the Asiago plateau, going up the most demanding stretches of the "Cost" with the rack at a speed of 10 km per hour. Inaugurated in 1910, it contributed to the growth of the area's economic activities.

You can park your car at the ice stadium of Asiago and start the walk passing behind the old station which, still today, is the starting point of the Strada del Vecchio Trenino.

You go along the first stretch between asphalt and light dirt roads, on a practically flat and pleasant path, immersed in the municipalities and districts of the plateau; until you get to the Great War Museum of Canove, where outside we find a locomotive similar to the "Vaca Mora", the cogwheel train that used to travel these routes.

We continue our pleasant walk immersed in the meadows and hills of an intense green that is rarely seen around, through poorly lit tunnels we arrive at the large forests of spruce and Scots pine and, the long stone walls covered with grass and spontaneous vegetation, they create a magical atmosphere, almost like an enchanted world.

The excursion is suitable for anyone, in the first stretch, from Asiago to Canove, the route is always very popular with people walking and families with children in wheelchairs, thanks also to the always well-kept road surface. Pay attention to the ice that forms during the winter. We recommend a calm pace to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
