The Maria Rifugio on Sass Pordoi Excursion is one of the beautiful and suggestive trips to do, completely surrounded by majestic Dolomite groups and breathtaking views. In fact, Sass Pordoi is part of the spectacular Sella Group, which is located between the province of Belluno and that of Trento in the heart of the Dolomites, a World Heritage Site. The Maria rifugio can also be easily reached with the cable car that departs from the Pordoi Pass, but today we prefer to tell you about the beautiful walk that takes place between the Dolomite spiers of the massif.
After leaving the car in the large parking lot of the Pordoi pass, we take the CAI path 627, near the cable car. The first part is almost flat, facilitated by the presence of steps and a soft green lawn. Once you get to the scree the slope becomes steeper, follow the tracks placed on the boulders, until you reach the Pordoi fork, at an altitude of 2,829 meters, turn left following the 627A signpost towards Rifugio Maria.
From this beautiful terrace you can enjoy a unique panorama in the world, the large Dolomite groups become small little ones under our feet, and our eyes are filled with immense. The excursion is suitable for anyone, the route is always very popular with people walking and also with families with children.
Pay attention to the ice that forms during the colder periods. We recommend a calm pace, to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
