In this chapter we discuss a truly spectacular route, surrounded by nature and within everyone's reach, the Cycle Route of Mincio River.

The Cycle Route of Mincio River is one of the most famous routes in the Veneto region, totally immersed in nature and within everyone's reach. It develops almost exclusively on flat, asphalted and well-marked cycle paths, and thanks to the many beauties that this area offers, your day will be completely satisfied. The track dances along the Mincio river, connecting a series of points of interest of great value, between the green countryside of Verona and the numerous dedicated cycling facilities.

The Cycle Route of Mincio River

It starts leaving Porta Brescia, in Peschiera del Garda, leaving the beauty of Lake Garda behind us and skirting the fortifications that were once the Quadrilatero della Lega Lombarda. We immerse ourselves in the quiet flow of the Mincio river, well shaded in the summer and sheltered from the strong winds in the winter, we cross gentle hills, expanses of cereals and colorful vineyards giving us the pleasure of a peaceful and relaxing ride.

Peschiera del Garda - The Cycle Route of Mincio River

After about 15 kilometers you will arrive in Valeggio sul Mincio, a tourist city that houses imposing medieval fortifications, including on the top of the hill the Scaliger Castle, built by the lords of Verona, the Scaligeri.

A few steps from here we find a precious gem, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Borghetto, a tiny fortified outpost, where time seems to stand still, ideal for a stop among the old mills and streams, for an aperitif quick or for a characteristic lunch.

Borghetto - The Cycle Route of Mincio River

For the more trained, the cycle path continues for another 30 kilometers along the course of the Mincio river and nationally protected naturalistic areas, up to more urbanized areas and the entrance to the wonderful city of Mantua. Here the Mincio widens, to form three large lakes that defend, on three sides out of four, the Renaissance wonders of the historic center.
