By Mountain Bike on the Brenta Path is a pleasant itinerary that takes place along the splendid valleys of the Valsugana, immersed in a particularly interesting area and far from the big cities.
A valley that extends between Veneto and Trentino, and is crossed and shaped by the millennial flow of the lively Brenta river. The path is well cared for in some sections, while in others it is slightly bumpy, but there are no important danger signs to highlight.
It starts from the beautiful Bassano del Grappa, and more precisely from the famous Alpini Bridge, or Old Bridge, a jewel and symbol of a city in continuous growth. Located in the heart of the Veneto region, it is a city of a thousand talents and a thousand flavors, thanks to a generous territory and to artists of the highest level.
The numerous palaces and villas in the area embellish a special area, protected to the north by the Seven Municipalities Plateau and the Mount of Grappa Massif.
Furthermore, one cannot fail to mention, in fact, the painter Jacopo da Bassano, who represented landscapes and animals with a perfect use of light and the famous prints of the Remondini family, famous throughout Europe, who in the eighteenth century gave work to about a thousand citizens.
The route starts on the right Brenta, on the side of the Alpini Bridge of Museum, along via G. Volpato, where the car park is also quite easily found. The path goes among large weeping willows, near the beach of Bassano, where the gentle banks allow a simple and refreshing foot bath.
Continue along a high wall that borders the shore, among shrubs and large trees, passing the district of Sant Eusebio, until you reach the village of Campese, always skirting and keeping the river on the right. At this point, while waiting for the construction of the Brenta cycle path to be completed, turn left taking the provincial road, which climbs for about two kilometers up to Campolongo sul Brenta, and from where the beautiful cycle path runs along the river up to Valstagna.
Where in the past it was a river and commercial port of the Seven Vicentine Municipalities, for the Republic of Venice, as the eighteenth-century coat of arms of the municipality reveals. "... We start from Val Brenta, under grim peaks, at the point where the valley - for those coming from Bassano - seems to split in two, at the height of a village called Valstagna, with its wall of old houses on the edge of the bank “, So wrote Paolo Rumiz.
At this point we can wait for the train that takes us back to Bassano. By Mountain Bike on the Brenta Path is very popular with cyclists and families on a walk, we recommend a leisurely pace, to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
