The Croda dei Toni Group

The Croda dei Toni Group, a complex mountain group consisting of several elevations, is located along the border between the Veneto region and Trentino-Alto Adige, between the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Paterno Mount and the Gruppo del Popera. Among the various peaks of this massif stands the Croda dei Toni, 3,094 meters; this wonder rises like a giant tower in the middle of the Sesto Dolomites and is one of the most powerful and scenic mountains in the area.

Then there are the Croda Antonio Berti or Cima Centrale, 3,029 meters, the Cima Sud with its 2,945 meters, the Cima d'Auronzo, the southern pillar of the croda, with its 2,914 meters, the Piccola Croda dei Toni, 2,917 meters, and the Piccolissima of 2,718 meters with the towers of the Vicentine ladies. The first ascent to the summit Croda dei Toni was made by the guides J. and M. Innerkofler, in 1874, through an icy channel of the west wall.

Today these magical areas are very popular destinations for tourists from all over the world, in fact, in winter they become an immaculate paradise for lovers of downhill skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and cross country skiing, while in summer the landscape awakens and the green valleys become a destination for excursions, family picnics, mountain biking, horseback riding and much more.

The group is crossed by the high street number 5, dedicated to Tiziano Vecellio, which connects the Carducci refuge with the Forcella dei Toni in the southern slope. It is a fairly demanding route, of a mountaineering nature, which extends for ninety kilometers from the village of Sesto to Pieve di Cadore, the birthplace of the famous painter Veneto.
