In this chapter we discuss one of the most spectacular and suggestive locations in the Dolomites of the province of Belluno: Arabba.
Arabba is the most important center of the whole Val di Fodom valley and we can consider it as a real gem set in the Dolomites. Situated at the foot of imposing mountain massifs, such as the Sella Group and the Marmolada, this lovely 1,602 meter high resort is ideal for unforgettable winter and summer holidays.
Definitely worth a try is the Sellaronda, a ski and road route around the Sella Group, considered to be among the most beautiful in the world, also known as the "4 steps tour", which passes through four Alpine crossings linked together, from the Sella pass 2.240 meters, at the Pordoi pass 2,239 meters, at the Campolongo pass 1,875 meters and at the Gardena pass 2,121 meters.
There is no specific point for departure, just choose a suitable location close enough to the route, to benefit from traffic closure and enjoy the route by bike. The tour covers a distance of about 55 kilometers, referring to only four passes, with a drop of about 1,780 meters, trespassing over three times over 2,000 meters.
The Sellaronda Bike is a non-competitive event, open to everyone and with every type of bicycle, in short, a day of celebration dedicated to cyclists in one of the most spectacular places in the world. In the program for the coming winter, the legendary Sellaronda, the most famous and evocative Skitour in the Alps, cannot be missed. It is a unique panoramic route, of 40 kilometers, of which 28 to be tackled with the skiers at the foot through the imposing rock faces of the Dolomites World Heritage Site.
The tour of the four passes takes place around the rocky massif of the Sella, through the Ladin valleys of Fassa, Badia, Gardena and Fodom, in an alternation of mid-level runs all connected to each other by modern ski lifts. The itinerary can easily be taken in 5-6 hours, even for less experienced skiers.
In addition, Arabba is part of the largest and most beautiful ski area in the world, the Dolomiti Superski, thanks to over 400 kilometers of ski runs that connect the numerous places around the Sella Group and the Marmolada. In summer, on the other hand, it is very popular with hikers, who come in great numbers to tackle the various paths that develop in the woods of these imposing mountains.
Staying in these parts, in fact, you can better appreciate the rhythms of life of the territory, savor the typical dishes of the local tradition and venture among the many paths and ski slopes that these valleys offer.
