The Heroes Road

The Heroes Road is a characteristic route on Mount Pasubio, built to recover the bodies of the fallen of the First World War, which separates the Veneto from Trentino Alto Adige. In particular, the real stretch of the Heroes road is about two kilometers long, and starts from the Havet Gallery and reaches the Rifugio Achille Papa.

The name derives from the fact that on the rocky parade of this valley, we find plaques in honor of the 12 gold medals for military valor that fought on these mountains during the First World War. At the rifugio, at the time a military shelter, we find a plaque attached to the facade in memory of the hard and violent battle of 2 July 1916, when the Italian army rejected the Austro-Hungarian one.

Today these valleys are a paradise of grandiose landscapes, vast green plateaus and wild wooded valleys. In short, an ideal destination for hikers and mountain bike lovers, who find ideal terrain for working muscles and lungs on the climbs of these peaks along the numerous and well-developed war roads.

The route is quite long, but it does not have difficult parts and not particularly dangerous, our advice is to face it with tranquility, in order to admire and enjoy the surrounding landscape. The excursion is suitable for anyone, the route is quite popular with strollers and families, thanks also to the well-maintained road surface. Pay attention to the ice that forms during the winter.
