In this chapter we discuss the famous and characteristic village of Enego, destination of many tourists for summer or winter holidays.
It is located along the road that from Primolano leads to the Asiago plateau, at an altitude of 800 meters, as if suspended between heaven and earth, surrounded by large fir forests, the Ortigara Mount massif and the Valsugana escarpments. However to mark the territory we thought about the First World War, a conflict that had a strong impact above all on the vegetation and its many inhabited centers, which at the time were significantly damaged, leaving behind the remains of a bloody clash, with mule tracks, tunnels, trenches and fortifications. The period of the Great War hit the entire territory in full, the area of Ortigara Mount became the main target of the Austro-Hungarian punitive expedition, called by the Italians Strafexpedition, the scene of bloody battles that caused thousands of victims.
Not far from Enego we find the most precious jewel, the splendid Piana di Marcesina, located at 1,300 meters above sea level, in a truly unique plateau, with wide pastures and majestic woods, a destination for sports and enthusiasts both in summer and winter . A territory rich in food and wine typical of these areas, expertly collected and processed according to local traditions, among the gentle slopes of this plateau.
To enhance the enchanting plain, the snow takes care of it, which in winter transforms them into Finland of Italy, as it is often called, developing an impressive ski area, with slopes for downhill and Nordic skiing, which wind through hundreds of kilometers on the Seven Municipalities Plateau.
