Molinetto della Croda, one of the most typical and characteristic places of the Marca Trevigiana, located in Refrontolo.

Molinetto della Croda

The town of Refrontolo, crossed by the Prosecco Superiore wine road, it extends between a succession of hills with suggestive viticultural landscapes, along the Crevada valley and, by a vast network of naturalistic paths, on the north side of the province of Treviso. This small and pretty town is located in a hilly viewpoint, not far from Montello, a unique hill of its kind that stretches from the Piave river to Nervesa della Battaglia, from Crocetta del Montello to Montebelluna.

Molinetto della Croda

Its origin is linked to the process of orogenesis of the Alps. A unique and surprising territory, which thanks to the hills of Prosecco, is becoming one of the best known locations in the whole province. Declared a World Heritage Site in 2019, these beautiful colored hills are located in the heart of the Marca Trevigiana, not far from the imposing Dolomites and a few kilometers from the beaches of the Venetian coast.

The Prosecco - Molinetto della Croda

It is also called Isola del Refrontolo Passito DOCG, a nickname that derives from a sweet wine, perfumed as a companion or after a meal, made from Marzemino grapes, characteristic of the area. After an aging of about four months, the passito is presented with an intense ruby red color, with a delicate and characteristic smell, and with a harmonious, velvety and sweet flavor. The ideal combination is with dry pastries, sbrisolona cake, with tarts or with blue cheeses.

Molinetto della Croda

Nearby, moreover, we find Molinetto della Croda, one of the few still functioning water mills which, exploiting the waters of the Lierza stream, which continues since 1630, the year of construction, to grind corn flour for polenta. It is a small structure made of stone and wood, used as accommodation for the caretaker's family, as a stable for animals and also as a barn. Leaning against the mill we can admire a rocky ridge with its waterfall, 12 meters high, surrounded by green woods and rolling hills.
