The Marca Trevigiana brings together the cities, the most typical products and the excellence of the province of Treviso.
The Marca Trevigiana
It is a territory to be explored, its beauty can be found everywhere: in the canvases of the famous Giorgione and Tiziano, along the many cycle paths, in the historic taverns and, finally, in the isolated beaches along the course of the Piave river.
Feeling threatened by nearby Padua and Vicenza, Treviso around 1195 and 1199 raised a mighty castle on this pre-existing embankment, with the aim of monitoring their land, Castelfranco Veneto, the grandeur of its walls encloses tourists even today, with a curtain of about 17 meters high and 250 meters on each side, it still transmits the defensive capabilities of the settlement and the difficulties in conquering this military garrison.
Not far away we find a grandiose project by Andrea Palladio, Villa Emo, a sixteenth-century building that manages to blend classic and rustic architectural elements.
Finally Portobuffolè, a small medieval jewel, located along the banks of the Livenza river, on the border between the Veneto region and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, thanks to the elegance of its streets, the historic buildings and traditions of a truly unique and surprising territory.
