If you've never been in the Ways of Prosecco wine, what are you waiting for? Embroidered hills, pretty villages and typical products are waiting for you!
The ways of Prosecco wine
The ways of Prosecco wine winds through green hills embroidered by the skilled hands of the farmers from the Valdobbiadene area to Conegliano for 47 kilometers. These grapevines, of great versatility, produce different types of Doc wine, such as dry, sweet, still, sparkling wines and Prosecco Superiore di Cartizze.
The latter, Cartizze, has been cultivated for almost two hundred years in a narrow area of 106 hectares in an area included within a small fraction of the municipality of Valdobbiadene. This magnificent territory has been included since 2019 in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Today this wine, thanks to its characteristics and its quality, is imposing itself overwhelmingly on the world market. The Prosecco wine hills are one of the most touristy areas of the entire Veneto region, due to the beauty of the cultivated hills, the presence of several wineries where you can taste and buy a good wine and for the wide range of typical products that these lands can offer in each season.
An opportunity not to be missed to savor and enjoy the richness of these lands, are the spring exhibitions that are held right along the "Prosecco Wine road”, representing an enological itinerary through the geometric rows of vineyards.
Prosecco is distinguished in:
- Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore which is a DOCG sparkling wine produced exclusively in these hills, starting from the Glera grape variety, has a light straw color, moderate body and a fruity and floral scent. It can be tasted in the Brut, Dry and Extra Dry versions, which stand out for their sugary residue.
We also find the DOCG "Rive" which indicates the slopes of the steep hills that characterize the area. In fact, it is obtained from the steepest vines and suited to grapes from a single fraction, in order to enhance the peculiarities that the territory gives to the wine. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand.
- Superiore di Cartizze is a higher type than the previous one, because it is produced in a restricted area of 106 hectares, in the shape of a pentagon, enclosed between the steepest hills of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Socol, in the municipality of Valdobbiadene . In this area we find a perfect combination of mild microclimate and very ancient soils. Cartizze is sparkling almost exclusively in the Dry version. It has a straw yellow color, with a harmonious and elegant smell, with notes of apple, apricot and rose, with a soft and fresh flavor.
