In this chapter we discuss the mountain groups located between the Veneto region and Trentino Alto Adige, the Feltre and the Pale di San Martino Dolomites.
The Feltre and Pale di San Martino Dolomites consist mainly of dolomite rock and are among the most popular and famous in the world.
The former are part of the Feltrine Alps, which take the name of the nearby town of Feltre whereas the latter are the most extensive mountain group of all the Dolomites. For their importance they are part of the wonderful Paneveggio Natural Park of the nearby region of Trentino Alto Adige.
The impending rocky walls of the Feltre and the Pale di San Martino Dolomites provide the perfect backdrop to the spectacular valleys, green pastures and wide expanses of woodland. These magical areas are very popular destinations for tourists from all over the world, as they attract both those who seek a quiet walk with the family, and those who practice extreme sports.
